6.1 Magnitude Earthquake Recorded Near New Zealand

An 6.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded southwest of New Zealand on Wednesday local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor reached a depth of about 6 miles and was recorded about 160 miles west of Auckland Island. It comes on the heels of a devastating 7.1 magnitude earthquake Tuesday in Mexico that killed at least 149 people. The death toll is expected to climb.  Continue reading...
