2-year-old Boy Nearly Drowns in Backyard Pool in Saginaw

A toddler nearly drowned Wednesday afternoon in a Saginaw pool, officials said. Saginaw police and Fire Department personnel were dispatched about 2:30 p.m. to the 500 block of Kempson Court where a two-year-old boy ended up in a backyard pool, fire Capt. Russell Ragsdale said. The boy was flown to Cook Children's Medical Center in critical condition and remained in the ICU Wednesday evening, he said. A parent was at the house at the time. The incident appeared accidental and no criminal charges are expected in the case, Ragsdale said. The child appeared to have opened an interior door of the house and walked into the yard. He was outside for about two minutes, he said. Six children have drowned in Texas in 2018, according to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.   Continue reading...
