Dallas Comic Con Brings the Stars

Actors, writers, artists and more pack Irving Convention Center

Comic and sci-fi fans, rejoice -- the Dallas Comic Con is back with its largest show ever.

For their 10th year, the convention will take over the Irving Convention Center on Saturday and Sunday for a star-studded event.

Included in the guest list are comics legend Stan Lee, actors Patrick Stewart and James Marsters, actresses Summer Glau and Laura Vandervoort, plus a plethora of talent comic book artists and writers like Neal Adams, George Perez, Len Wein and Jimmy Palmiotti.

There is some grouping to the guests, too -- TV's Dynamic Duo from the 1960s "Batman" series, Adam West and Burt Ward, will both be at the convention, as will Kevin Conroy, who did the voice work for the 1990s Batman animated series and recent games such as "Arkham City." If previously scheduled guest Val Kilmer hadn't had to change his schedule, there could have been a trifecta of Bruce Waynes in Irving this weekend.

Star Trek fans will like the dichotomy of having both Capt. Picard (Patrick Stewart) and Q (John de Lancie) in the same spot, while Star Wars fans will enjoy talking to Dave Prowse, Peter Mayhew, and Jeremy Bulloch, who were inside the costumes of Darth Vader, Chewbacca and Boba Fett (respectively) in the original trilogy.

Beyond the big names, there are certainly big opportunities to meet comic artists, connect with fans, and enjoy the costumes that many attendees will suit up in.

If you're new to comic conventions, a read-through the FAQs on the official Dallas Comic Con page is a must. Looking at the schedule wouldn't hurt either, as many of the big names will be appearing for Q&A at one time and in a different place for any photo ops or autographs.

General admission is available at the box office for $25 on Saturday, $20 on Sunday, with kids 5-12 at $5 each.
