Amber Carrington Rocks “The Voice”

Rockwall native vies for spot on singing competition's final five

Rockwall is hoping its very own Amber Carrington makes the final four on NBC's "The Voice."

Hundreds of fans are expected to watch her perform on Monday night's episode at Allure Restaurant. Each of the top six remaining contestants will sing twice.

"It's just been a pretty amazing journey, you know, especially for Amber," said her grandfather, Ron Vice. "She does such a wonderful job when she sings."

Around Rockwall, the excitement is building.

"So excited, so proud -- nobody deserves it more than she does," said family friend Kelly Archibald. "She is such a wonderful young lady; so kind, so precious. There is nobody who deserves this more than she does."

Her family and friends have been by her side since the beginning, hosting watch parties and voting every week.

If Carrington makes it to the final five, she will get to come home, where she would perform in the Rockwall Summer Concert series at the Rockwall Harbor on Thursday night. Mayor David Sweet is also expected to present the Rockwall High School graduate with a key to the city.

But no matter where she sings, she will always remember her mother, who died of cancer last year, her grandfather said.

"I know her mom would be extremely proud of her today, and she would encourage her to continue her dream," Vice said.
