Full disclaimer here: I once one-hopped the wall in left-center field at what was then Ameriquest Field (not Globe Life Park). It was Big 12 Tournament time at the American Airlines Center, and there was a media event to promote to the Big 12 baseball tournament over the park, so of course I took the opportunity. Little did I know, we could take batting practice with some former All-American from Nebraska pitching to us.
I had a big, heavy wood bat and laid into one. It was probably the pinnacle of my baseball career other than that home run I hit off Parker Hallmark in sixth grade in San Angelo (trust me, if you knew how hard Parker Hallmark threw in 6th grade, you'd be on the same page).
Anyway, I tell that story because I was obviously very close to hitting one out of the box in Arlington, and if I would've been a Rangers season ticket holder back then it'd mean I would've been very close to winning my season tickets for free.
That's exactly what the Rangers are offering this weekend at the ballpark. Season ticket holders get three swings to send one into orbit. A shot to the stands means free season tickets (up to $10,000).
To make it even cooler, Rangers PA voice and king of in-park entertainment Chuck Morgan will announce the name of every season ticket holder who takes some cuts.
