Witten Picks Giants Over Pats In Super Bowl

Cowboys tight end Jason Witten believes his NFC East rivals, the New York Giants, will come out on top in Super Bowl XLVI

In an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter this morning, Dallas Cowboys’ tight end joked that he might not be the best guy to ask for a Super Bowl prediction, since his Cowboys went winless in three tries against the Patriots and Giants in 2011. But he eventually did offer up a prediction, and he’s keeping it in the division.

"I'm 0-3 against them (the Giants and Patriots) so I'm probably the wrong guy to ask,'' Witten said, per the Dallas Morning News. "But I think at the end of it, I'm sticking with the NFC East and going Giants 31, Patriots 27.''

As for the Cowboys, Witten believes the team has many key pieces in place, but readily admits that there remains much work to be done before the 2012 season gets under way.

"I think we're close in many ways,'' Witten said. "We have the right guys. We have a great coach in Jason Garrett.

"Expectations are high every year. I mean, Mr. Jones creates the environment and you embrace that when you go to the Cowboys. We still have a lot of work to do. We know that. I feel like we're close. But this game comes down to just a couple of plays every week and we've got to find a way to make those plays.''
