Report: Cowboys Re-Signing P Chris Jones

2014 will be Jones' fourth year as the Cowboys punter

Dallas Cowboys punter Chris Jones will sign his exclusive rights tender on Monday, according to a report by Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News.

The tender offer is worth $645,000 and means Jones will return for a fourth season in Dallas.

Through his first three, Jones averaged 44.8 yards per punt while pinning the opposing team inside their own 20-yard line 40 times, 30 times in 2013 alone.

Jones took over as the Cowboys’ punter in 2011, after Mat McBriar began experiencing nerve damage in his plant foot. Obviously, McBriar left some pretty big shoes to fill. At the time of his departure, McBriar was the franchise leader in net average (38.1), gross average (45.3) and punts inside the opposing 20 (175). He was named to the Pro Bowl twice, in 2006 and 2010.
