Our warm October weather continues, with temperatures reaching near-record levels through the weekend.
Highs through Sunday will be in the upper 80s. A broad ridge of high pressure has kept North Texas warm and mostly free of any rain.
There is something else allowing for the heat -- dry air.
Dry air heats up faster than humid air. Dew points today are in the 50s, so humidity is very low right now.
High temperatures Friday through Sunday will be close to record-high levels.
Even though this is late October, with the late-season heat, the temperature inside a vehicle can easily climb 20 to 30° above the outside temperature in roughly 30 minutes.
