One Sister’s Fight Against Breast Cancer

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has been rescheduled to Saturday, November 12 due to the Texas Rangers' schedule.

Anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer knows just how important support from your family and friends is to surviving cancer. Karol Young Moses is a breast cancer survivor, the sister of a breast cancer survivor and an American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walker.

In her own words, Moses explains what Making Strides Against Breast Cancer means to her, and why she walks.

“My diagnosis in December 2007 was a shock. After spending almost a year undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and a mastectomy— I am proud to say I am now cancer free!

“I am walking in Making Strides for my sister Michele, the only other person in the history of our family affected by breast cancer. She is not only a survivor, but also an endless source of strength and encouragement for me.

“I am walking for my daughters, Lauryn and Lyndsey, in the hopes that they will never have to be inducted into this sorority. I am walking for all of my sisters in the fight to help give them strength and inspiration to continue, and to show them that there is indeed a light at the end of the tunnel!

“I believe that hope for a world without breast cancer and with more birthdays starts with me.
And you can be a part of it, too.”

American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is more than just a walk. It is a way for breast cancer survivors, those that care about finding a cure, and anyone who wants to raise awareness about breast cancer to make a difference.
