Chuck Greenberg said the deal to transfer ownership of the Texas Rangers to his investment group is still on track to be completed before the season opens next month.

Greenberg made his first visit to the Rangers' spring training complex Wednesday. It was a short reprieve from the work back in Texas trying to complete the purchase of the team from owner Tom Hicks and his financially strapped Hicks Sports Group.

Greenberg says "everything is going smoothly," though the deal is complicated by debt owed by Hicks Sports Group,

Greenberg says he thinks the sale will be done by April 1, before opening day.
