Nick Saban Happy to See McClain's Turnaround

Rolando McClain played under Nick Saban at Alabama from 2007 to 2009

University of Alabama head coach Nick Saban has been keeping an eye on Rolando McClain this year, as his former player turns over a new leaf with the Dallas Cowboys and, understandably, he likes what he sees.

Ro’s always been a guy that I’ve had a lot of respect for,” Saban said recently, per the Dallas Morning News. “He was a great leader here and a great player here, a very mature guy. But again, some things sometimes take priority. Before you can really focus on what you’re trying to do as a football player, you have to get those things right in your life. I think he has, and I’m happy to see that he’s having a good year and the Cowboys are doing well.”

McClain, who played for Saban from 2007 to 2009, has 27 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and two interceptions this season. The former 8th overall pick came out of retirement and joined the Cowboys in July, after Sean Lee suffered a season-ending torn ACL, after Dallas sent a sixth round pick to Baltimore in exchange for his services.

To this point, to say it was a steal is a massive understatement.
