Jerry Jones's Grandson Earns Starting QB Role at Highland Park

You may have heard the name Jerry Jones before, but it’s the Cowboys owner’s grandson who's making a name for himself in his first year as the starting quarterback at Highland Park High School.

Wearing the same number nine his grandfather’s franchise quarterback wears, Highland Park High School quarterback John Stephen Jones is off to a fast start to the 2016 season.

John Stephen has eight total touchdowns in three games for the Scots this season, and does not get special treatment as the grandson of the owner and son of the vice president of the most valuable professional sports franchise in the world.

As a junior in school, there are no interviews with the media. And head coach Randy Allen said there was no parental influence in landing the starting job before the season.

It’s clearly worked out as a good pick.

The Scots are 2-and-1, and John Stephen Jones has played really well.

By the way, one of John Stephen’s top receivers at Highland Park is JT Dooley, the son of Cowboys wide receivers coach Derek Dooley.

Highland Park hosts Lovejoy High School Friday at 7:30 p.m.
