James Stewart raced to his second straight AMA Supercross victory Saturday night, easily holding off Ryan Dungey at AT&T Stadium.
Stewart, the Yoshimura Suzuki rider from Haines City, Fla., has 47 career 450SX victories. He's third on the career list, one victory behind Ricky Carmichael. Jeremy McGrath holds the record with 72.
"I thought we needed to be better for the main event and we were," Stewart said. "The track was really difficult and I knew I had to get myself to a certain point in order to make a pass and control the race."
Justin Barcia was third, and three-time defending series champion Ryan Villopoto fourth.
Villopoto leads the series standings after seven races, 12 points ahead of Ken Roczen. Stewart is third, 14 points back. Roczen was sixth Saturday.
"The championship doesn't matter right now," Stewart said. "We just need to keep riding like we are. If we do that, then we'll be good."
In the Eastern Regional 250SX season opener, Adam Cianciarulo won his Supercross debut. Cianciarulo, from Port Orange, Fla., led a Kawasaki sweep, holding off Blake Baggett and Martin Davalos.

"I couldn't be more pumped," Cianciarulo said. "This is for everyone who has stuck behind me through all the good times and bad. It's taken a lot of good days and a lot of bad days to get to this point. I cannot believe it, all these fans cheering for me and giving me the support. I just can't believe it. We did it."
