Trump's Health Care Plan Would Repeal Obamacare

Donald Trump says Obamacare has resulted in runaway costs, websites that don't work, higher premiums, less competition and fewer choices.

"It's over for Obamacare," the Republican presidential nominee told supports at a rally in Florida Monday night. "Hillary Clinton wants to double down and make it more expensive, and it's not gonna work. I called it when it first came out. It's only getting worse."

North Texas entrepreneur, David Marks, fears the same.

His monthly health care premiums are already pricey.

"With my family of five, it's almost $1,800 a month," Marks said. "It's not great coverage and it's a $6,000 deductible."

His family is covered under a COBRA Plan from a previous employer, but that plan expires in December. And word of a double-digit spike in premiums under Obamacare has Marks discouraged.

"I'm going to pay a lot more to get a lot less," he said. "That's not a very good recipe."

Trump feels he has the answer.

His health care plan includes:

  • Repealing Obamacare on day one
  • Not requiring everyone to buy insurance, unless they want it
  • Changing laws that inhibit the sale of health insurance across state lines to increase competition

-Allow people to use tax-free Health Savings Accounts that can accumulate and be passed onto or used by any family member without penalty.

"I totally agree with Donald in that regard," said Marks. "I've always felt that I'm a better investor of my own family treasure than the government is. My fear is that I'm not going to have good coverage for my kids. I have two college-aged kids and one that's not far behind. So, I'm already paying a lot in college tuition and we know how much tuition has gone up."
