City Councilwoman Angela Hunt, who represents District 14, said Wednesday that she will not run for mayor of Dallas.
Hunt said she feels she can be more effective in the community by sitting on the council instead of in the mayor's office.
Hunt added that she also believes the mayor should be someone from outside the council.
Current candidates lobbying to fill the void left by Mayor Tom Leppert, who said he will not run for a second term, include former Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle and Councilman Ron Natinsky.
