Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market Cashier Robbed at Register: Police

Dallas police are looking for a man who pulled a handgun on a cashier at the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market on South Buckner Boulevard Tuesday morning.

According to police, the man went in her checkout lane and, as she was ringing up his items, he pulled the gun out of his sweatshirt and said, "I need everything out of your drawer and you need to hurry up."

The man left with $180. The cashier is OK and was back at work Wednesday.

Shoppers said they were shocked by the robbery in broad daylight.

"Going into 2014 I just think we should be in a better place, in a better world, where we don't have to deal with such trauma to our family and friends and loved ones,” said shopper Donnie Harris.

Police said no surveillance video was available at this time.

Wal-Mart issued this statement about the robbery:

"We are thankful no one was hurt. Our cashier was a little shaken up but says she is okay. We insisted she take the rest of the day off. We appreciate the quick response from law enforcement and we hope the information we provided will help assist them in identifying the suspect."
