Two Suspects Identified in DeSoto Jewelry Store Smash-and-Grab

Woman in custody, two men sought after $54,000 in watches stolen

DeSoto police are asking for help tracking down two people wanted in connection with a smash-and-grab robbery at jewelry store last week.

Arrest warrants for felony theft have been issued for 24-year-old Lloyd Clemons and 22-year-old D'Quailynn Baskin after three people entered Caves Jewelry on July 22, smashed a glass case and ran off with $54,000 in Rolex watches.

Investigators said one of the three, identified by police as Haley Washington, was arrested at the scene after being startled when the store's owner, Jerry Caves, exited a side door and pointed a gun in their direction as they ran past him.

Washington surrendered at gunpoint, but her accomplices continued on, police said.

"I just told her I had a gun and she needed to stop. I guess I frightened her and she turn back and fell. I walked over to her and asked her to please come back in the store with me and that's what happened," said Caves.

Washington was arrested and charged with felony theft. Police initially said she was not being cooperative in the investigation and refused to reveal who she was with.

Investigators said Friday identifying Clemons and Baskin was "the culmination of teamwork between the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and citizen witnesses."

The DeSoto Police Department is requesting the publicโ€™s assistance in locating Clemons and Baskin. Mugshots from previous arrests are in the photo above. Anyone with information on their location is asked to call 911 or the DeSoto Police Department's Cpl. Bristow at 214-629-5346.
