A North Texas man who robbed more than a dozen banks has been sentenced to 40 years in prison in the crime spree that ended in Arkansas.
Richard Wayne Swicegood of Waxahachie was sentenced Wednesday in Waco.
Swicegood in January pleaded guilty to 13 counts of bank robbery. Some businesses were robbed multiple times. He must also repay nearly $120,000.
The robberies began in 2011 and stretched until July 1, 2014, when an Arkansas trooper stopped Swicegood's vehicle. The trooper recovered a fake gun and $16,000 stolen from Summit Bank in Benton, Arkansas.
Swicegood held up Temple Santa Fe Community Credit Union in Temple three times -- in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
The other robberies were in Round Rock, Salado, Lampasas, San Antonio, Wichita Falls and Tyler.
