Terrell Police Investigate Alleged Sexual Assault, Video

Terrell police are investigating a reported sexual assault, and a video that is allegedly circulating.

The victim first told a school counselor and was later taken by a guardian to the Terrell Police Department to file a report.

Police tell NBC 5 the victim and suspects are middle-school aged children, and they all knew each other.

During the investigation, detectives were notified of a video allegedly circulating via cell phone messaging, according to police.

Police have since obtained copies of the video as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police ask any parent who believes their child has the video to immediately delete it, and the Terrell Independent School District issued the following statement Monday:

"The principal met with students last week to discuss the legal implications of sending or receiving inappropriate material to one other via their cell phones and making responsible choices. This is a City of Terrell Police Department investigation as the alleged incident happened off campus and not during school hours."

The Terrell police department will consult with the Kaufman County District Attorney's office as to whether additional charges could result from the production and distribution of the video.
