Teen Injured, Pet Killed in Kaufman County Mobile Home Fire

A Kaufman County teen was injured after his family's mobile home went up in flames early Friday morning.

The fire started at the home along County Road 136 in the Terrell area at about 12:30 a.m.

When College Mound firefighters arrived on scene, the east side of the house and an SUV parked in front of it were fully engulfed.

It took more than two dozen firefighters from multiple agencies to get the fire under control.

Fire officials said the injured teen and two adults were inside at the time. They, along with their dog, made it out safely. Their cat was killed in the fire.

The teen was taken by ambulance the hospital for smoke inhalation, but he is expected to be okay.

The Red Cross is helping the family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
