Record Number of Travelers Expected at DFW Airport

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is expecting record number of travelers this Thanksgiving holiday.

They say more than two million passengers will be coming from the airport from Wednesday until December 2.

"We are encouraging passengers, those who are out there to arrive early, give yourself at least two hours in advance time to get here, that reduces the stress on you," said DFW International Airport spokesperson Cynthia Vega.

Vega says they anticipate Sunday to be the busiest day as people return from their trips.

She says one reason for the increase of passengers at DFW Airport is because of more international options the airport now offers.

The airport also has some new upgrades to security check points. They include wider lines, and couches at the exit, so passengers can put their shoes on easier.

Passengers need to be aware remote parking lots were already full Wednesday morning and some terminal parking lots were closed according to DFW Airport's website.

"This is the first year you can take DART light rail to the airport, which is a big plus for many who don't want to deal with parking at all,” said Vega. "The downtown ride from Dallas to here is about 55 minutes."

The airport will also be having helpers on Sunday, November 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to help passengers with their luggage. This service will be available at terminals A, C and E.

Vega says since more people will be traveling this weekend it would be a good idea to arrive at the airport two hours early, and check to make sure your flight is still on before arriving to the airport.
