Rawlins Next Head of University of North Texas

The sole finalist for president of the University of North Texas has been approved for the job.

The UNT System board of regents on Monday formally approved V. Lane Rawlins as the school's 15th president.

Rawlins was interim president when regents last month picked him as the lone finalist for the job at UNT's main campus in Denton.

Rawlins is a former president of Washington State University and the University of Memphis.

Rawlins in May replaced Gretchen M. Bataille, who resigned in February after differences with UNT's chancellor on various issues.
