Late Thursday afternoon, Mesquite police arrested Wilson Alexander Benitez, 45, in connection to a Wednesday shooting that left a woman in critical condition.

The suspect was arrested in the parking lot of his apartment complex in the 11300 block of Newkirk St. in Dallas.

Benitez has been charged with one count of Aggravated Robbery.

Detectives do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence and are currently trying to determine the suspect's motive.

Bond is set at $100,000.

NBC 5 Mesquite-based reporter, Tammy Mutasa, first reported the story, before an arrest had been made.
