Plans to Remodel Fair Park Building for Broadcast Students

The City of Dallas has big plans for at least one of the vacant buildings in Fair Park.

Architects and designers have drafted plans to remodel the old Science Place II Building into a state-of-the-art broadcast learning center for students across North Texas who dream of working in broadcast television and radio.

The new building will include three studio sets for community and educational planning, editing stations, a student lab and a separate program for students at Skyline and Lincoln High School in Dallas ISD.

Students from the University of Texas at Dallas, the University of North Texas, Southern Methodist University, Paul Quinn College, the University of Texas at Arlington and Texas Christian University will also have the opportunity to take classes and utilize internship opportunities at the facility.

The city council will vote on the construction plans in December of 2016 and are scheduled for construction in January 2017.
