Pilot Point Middle School Obscenely Vandalized

Despite some of the best evidence being stolen, police in Pilot Point say community tips have them ready to make an arrest for the obscene vandalism of a local school.

According to a Denton County Crime Stoppers report, a young white male with shaggy hair was caught on surveillance video breaking into Selz Middle School Saturday night. He was seen entering through a door and then using cordless drill to damage doors and a window inside.

However, that video of the incident wouldn’t be of much use.

When Pilot Point police went to copy the footage, they’d found the school was again broken into Monday night by someone leaving the same footprints as the previous situation.

The person broke a window outside the school to get in and took the security cameras and recording system from inside.

Officers found fire extinguishers discharged in the hallways along with other damage.

Sgt. Robert Powell with the Pilot Point police said they also found the person had committed indecent acts in the principal’s office and in some other, he believes, clearly targeted areas of the school.

"There was defecation and urination in the classrooms we also had some obscenities written in a special needs classroom,” said Powell.

Despite the lack of images to release to the public though, Police Chief Ric Sadler said community tips quickly began pouring in as the information on the crime was released.

As of Friday afternoon, Sadler reported that arrests in the case were imminent thanks to that help.

"This community really pulls together and they get things done when they need to,” said Powell.

Police expect they’ll have more information to release after the holiday However, because juveniles are involved, their names are not expected to be released.

The Pilot Point School District offices were closed on Friday.
