Arlington police are investigating the death of a woman hit and killed while riding her bike in the 5900 block of Pioneer Parkway Monday afternoon.
A woman on a bicycle was killed Monday when she was struck by a passing motorist along the 5900 block of West Pioneer Parkway in Arlington.
The woman, whose identity has not been revealed but is believed to be in her 40s, was riding her bicycle on the shoulder near The Oak Ridge School when police said she veered slightly into the roadway. As she did, she was hit by a passing truck.
The woman was killed in the crash.
The motorist stopped to assist and is cooperating with police, who said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
One lane of westbound W. Pioneer Parkway near the school is closed while police continue their investigation. The Oak Ridge School is on Spring Break, so school-related activities and dismissals are not impacted by the investigation and lane closure.
