Multiple Reports of Attempted Child Abduction in Collin County

Police are warning parents about a man who has tried to lure kids into his vehicle.

Since late January, there have been five reports of a suspicious man approaching children in Melissa, Anna, Van Alstyne, Tom Bean & most recently, Princeton.

Wednesday, Princeton parent Jackie Billy says his two children were playing across the street from their home on Bonnie View Drive when the man pulled up at about 10 a.m.

"He started talking to them, trying to get them in the truck with them,โ€ Billy said.

He told the child, โ€œHey, we are buddies. Come over here,โ€ Princeton police said.

When another parent came outside, the man sped off.

โ€œI was ready to do something about it. I chased him all the way down the road in my truck,โ€ Billy said.

Billy never caught up.

But police want to.

"We're taking it very serious,โ€ Princeton Police Detective Yesenia Deleon said.

Police in Princeton released a picture of a truck similar to what the man was driving. It's a late 1990s model Chevrolet pick-up truck with an extended cab.

He's been seen in several different vehicles including a white van, green van and green truck.

In each of the five reports, police say the man's description is similar. He's an older white man wearing glasses, balding with white hair and possibly a long, white shaggy beard.

Billy says the man was also wearing a wedding ring.

In one case, police say the man offered a child brownies to lure her to his vehicle.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Collin County Sheriffโ€™s Office at 972-547-5350.
