Man Detained As Intoxicated Dies in Dallas Police Custody

A man detained in a public intoxication investigation has died while in Dallas police custody.

A police statement says the 39-year-old man was found unresponsive in his cell early Thursday and could not be revived.

Dallas police did not immediately release the name of the man, who was arrested Wednesday morning on an alias warrant and for being intoxicated in public.

He was transported to the City Detention Center, where individuals arrested for public intoxication are housed. Detention personnel later found him unresponsive in his cell.

No cause of death was immediately released.
