Man, 21, Fatally Shot at Dallas Intersection

Police are searching for the gunman accused of fatally shooting a 21-year-old man as he sat in his car at an intersection in Dallas Saturday.

Investigators said in a statement Sunday that Jakeivon Hatley was killed at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Bruton Road and Buckner Boulevard in Pleasant Grove.

Hatley's mother, Lisa Shine, said her son died in a nearby hospital.

"He didn't deserve this. He didn't do anything wrong," she said. "He's just a kid."

Police described the gunman as a heavyset man between the ages of 27 and 32. He was driving a tan or gold Mercury Grand Marquis. He was last seen driving southbound on Buckner Boulevard.

"I just couldn't believe it. He's a good kid; he was just getting on his feet. He had purchased a car and had a really good job," Shine said.

Investigators are offering up to a $5,000 reward for anonymous tips that lead to an arrest and indictment.

"I don't want to see another child die," Shine said. "I don't want to see another mother going through what I'm going through."

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators by calling 214-373-TIPS (8477). Callers may remain anonymous.

Detective Stewart can also be contacted at 214-283-4833.
