The Dallas chapter of the National Latino Law Enforcement Organization held the fundraiser at the West End Hooters restaurant, near the site of last week's ambush, to allow officers to mingle and reflect.
Police say it's been an emotional week, even for officers visiting from out-of-state who didn't know the fallen heroes personally. They're happy to have the chance to unwind and talk about everything they're feeling, all while raising money for a good cause.
"They need to see events like this, people coming together in support. Buying t-shirts, buying stickers, trading patches," said Dallas Police Sgt. George Aranda, with the NLLEO.
"We’re doing this event tonight for officers from out of town, and even local. Just come out here and decompress."
About 200 officers from more than a dozen law enforcement agencies came to show their support.
"It’s something welcome. It’s something needed, for our guys to see the love and support," Aranda said.
