A grand jury in Collin County has found enough evidence against McKinney chiropractor David Russell to take some cases to court.

The panel returned five indictments against Russell, including two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, one count of indecency with a child and one count of sexual assault of an adult.

"The indictments aren't any evidence of guilt," said Todd Shapiro, Russell's attorney. "They don't indicate he's guilty of anything. They simply lay out the formal charges, and he's prepared to fight them in court."

Russell was originally accused of sexually assaulting two girls while treating them for groin injuries at his clinic.

Russell reportedly met the girls while volunteering at his girlfriend's dance studio, Taylor Dance Center.

"We certainly have uncovered, over the last few months, holes in each one of their stories -- things that we believe, when presented to a jury, will be very important in deciding the ultimate issue, which we believe will be not guilty," Shapiro said.

Russell, who has been out on bond, has denied all charges. Shapiro said his client is ready to fight the allegations in court.

"We are still very optimistic about his chances in trial, simply because we know what the truth is," Shapiro said.
