First All Digital Public Library Opens In Texas

Welcome to a library without bookshelves or stern librarians. In fact, there are no physical books at all.

The San Antonio Express News reported Sunday that BiblioTech is the nation's first-of-its-kind digital public library system.

The facility in San Antonio is meant to be more Apple store than traditional library.

Instead of card catalogs, there are young techies as librarians, and patrons can pick electronic books via a mobile device.

The choices come from a computing cloud, or via large touch screens. BiblioTech is equipped with 700 e-readers.

It also has 200 enhanced e-readers preloaded for children, 48 iMac desktop computers, nine Mac laptops, 40 iPads, four interactive touch screen tables and an X-Box gaming system on two large screens.

The e-book collection includes 10,000 titles and growing
