Two Dead After Boat Capsizes on Private Pond

Two adults are dead and a young child hospitalized

The Navarro County Sheriff told NBC DFW that two adults died and a young child is hospitalized after being pulled from a pond in Corsicana Saturday night after their boat capsized.

The boat turned over in a private stock pond near Northwest County Road 1145 at about 6 p.m. Two adults and four children, including a 12-year-old, a 7-year-old and two 2-year-olds, were aboard the 14-foot-long boat.

Police identified two men, Francisco Gomez and Fernando Rodriguez, as the two men who drowned.

Three of the children were able to get out of the water immediately. However, Navarro County Sheriff Elmer Tanner said the two adults, and one of the 2-year-olds, went under water.

Emergency crews transferred them to a hospital in Coriscana, where the two adults died.

The 2-year-old child was flown by medical helicopter to a Dallas hospital. Tanner said that child is in stable condition.
