Earthquake Shakes Johnson County Overnight

A 3.4 magnitude earthquake shook homes and rattled nerves in Johnson County late Saturday night.

The US Geological Survey confirmed the earthquake at 11:52 p.m. four miles north, northwest of the city of Venus in Johnson County.

The epicenter is near FM 157 and Mountain Creek Drive. The depth of the quake is 1.7 miles according to the USGS.

There are no immediate reports of injuries or major damage.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m., the Johnson County Office of Emergency Management put the following message on Twitter:

We are aware of the earthquake felt across the north eastern portions of Johnson County. There have been no reports of damage.

One person who commented on the NBCDFW Facebook Fan Page said the quake was strong enough to knock pictures off of her wall.

The Johnson County earthquake is slightly larger than one felt in Irving one week ago. That one was near the former Texas Stadium site. It one of five quakes felt in the area within a week.
