Dansby to be Named Superintendent Tuesday

Dansby spent entire career in the FWISD

The Fort Worth Independent School District is expected to name its new superintendent Tuesday.

The district chose Walter Dansby as the new leader of the district last month.

"We had plenty of qualified candidates, but none as impressive as Walter Dansby," Trustee Carlos Vasquez said. "This is a new beginning for all of us."

Dansby will become the first black man to lead Fort Worth schools.  He has been the interim superintendent since Melody Johnson abruptly resigned last May after six years at the helm and was named the sole finalist for the position last month.

He attended Dunbar High School and spent his entire 37-year career working for Fort Worth schools.
