Dallas Stars Continue To Make Moves During The Off Season

The Dallas Stars added a nice piece to their roster. General Manager Jim Nill announced the signing of free agent defenseman Dan Hamhuis to a two-year deal. The 33 year old appeared in 58 games for Vancouver last season.

The British Columbia native has played in 872 regular-season games in his 12 seasons in the league. He has postseason experience which includes a Stanley Cup Final when he was a member of the Vancouver Canucks in 2011.

"Dan is a proven, veteran competitor and will complement our group well," said Nill. Who also said Dan "brings character and leadership, both on and off the ice. He is an elite defenseman who has won a Gold Medal for Canada in the Olympics, appeared in several World Championships, as well as competing in the Stanley Cup Final."

The 6-foot-1, 209-pounder was originally selected by Nashville in the first round (12th overall) of the 2001 NHL Draft.

The Stars also signed right wing Adam Cracknell to a one-year contract. The 30 year old spent part of the 2015-2016 with the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers.

Appearing in ten full seasons as a professional, he has recorded 27 career regular season NHL points in 134 games with St. Louis, Columbus, Vancouver and Edmonton. He has also appeared in ten career Stanley Cup Playoff games, all in his time with St. Louis, recording one goal and 40 hits.

The Stars signed goaltender Maxime Lagace to a one-year deal. The 23 year old posted a 19-10-3 record with a .913 save percentage with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League last season.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound native of Longueuil, Quebec went undrafted and was originally signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 23, 2012.
