Dallas Police Seize $94,000 Cash, 1,700 Grams of Cocaine at Muddy Waters Bar

When patrons of a bar in Old East Dallas showed up promptly around at opening time, 4 p.m., on Friday to get a drink, they were surprised to find the joint wasn’t open.

That is apparently because several of the employees of Muddy Waters, named for the late blues musician, had been thrown in Dallas County jail the night before, accused of running a cocaine distribution enterprise out of the watering hole.

Police said they executed a search warrant at the bar in the 4300 block of Live Oak Street. Narcotics detectives said they seized 1,709 grams (3.7 pounds) of cocaine and more than $94,000 in cash that had been stashed in the front office, back office and walk-in cooler.
