Dallas Police: Robbery Attempt Ends in Wreck

Police said they arrested a man suspected of robbery, a chase and a wreck in Dallas Monday morning.

Dallas Police Department officials said they arrested 22-year-old Kafir Kabbara and charged him with aggravated robbery, assault and evading arrest.

Officers responded to an armed disturbance call in the 8000 block of South Polk Street at about 11 a.m. Police said Kabbara shot at the robbery victim's car. The victim was not inside.

When police arrived, they said Kabbara jumped into a white four-door car and drove off. Officers chased him until he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a truck near the intersection of Camp Wisdom Road and Greenspan Avenue at about 11:10 a.m.

"He looked like he was going about a 100 [mph]," said witness Donatis Williams.

Neighbors heard the crash and came outside to see what was happening.

"It was crazy when I came out," said Jessica Littelton.

Three people were inside the truck that ended up on the sidewalk. Firefighters had to cut through the door and frame to remove the driver. All three were taken to hospitals in stable condition.

Police said Kabbara was taken to the hospital as well. His girlfriend came to the scene and was visibly upset.

"I am appalled. He just left my house," Kesshia Fields said. "I don't know how to feel about the situation."

Police said they found stolen property in Kabarra's car.
