Collin County K-9 Officer Honored On Death Bed

Numerous deputies and officers from other local law enforcement were present to show their respects

A loyal member of the Collin County Sheriff's Office ended his watch Thursday after nearly three and a half years of service, according to officials.

Collin County Sheriff Terry G. Box said K-9 Deputy "Rocky" Badge #239 was put down on June 16 after being unable to perform his duties for the past few months due to physical limitations.

In a facebook post shared by the Collin County Sheriff's Office, extensive medical evaluations showed that Rocky had an inoperable medical condition which required euthanasia. Rocky had been cared for at the Highlands-Eldorado Veterinary Hospital in McKinney, Texas since then.

According to the Sheriff's Office, K-9 handler Deputy Robert Merritt lead Rocky past The Collin County Honor Guard and Sheriff Box as he enters the Highlands-Eldorado Veterinary Hospital for his final tour of duty.
