Change of Venue Denied in Eric Williams' Murder Trial

A change of venue motion filed by defense attorneys representing a former justice of the peace accused of killing a North Texas district attorney, his wife and a top prosecutor in 2013 has been denied.

Former JP Eric Williams is facing the death penalty for the slayings of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland, his wife Cynthia and Assisstant District Attorney Mark Hasse.

He is accused of pulling the trigger on all of them as retribution for his 2012 conviction by the prosecutors for burglary and theft that ended his legal career.

The trial is currently scheduled to be held in Rockwall and Williams' defense claims he can't get a fair trial there.  A judge disagreed Friday, denying the motion to change the venue.

For the fourth week, jury selction continues. Eight have been selected so far, but 12 are needed with two alternates.

The trial is expected to begin Dec. 1.
