Officers responded to two calls in 2016 and 2017 involving the man accused of killing 22 people in El Paso in early August, Allen police said Monday.
The accused shooter, identified by authorities as 21-year-old Patrick Crusius, is from Allen, police said.
Allen police said a patrol officer stopped the suspected shooter in April 2016 while he was riding his bike at the corner of Belhaven Drive and University Drive. The officer ran Crusius' license and determined he did not have any active warrants.
In May 2017, police said they responded to call about a shirtless man, stumbling "along a trail and through the woods." The alleged shooter was located near Franklin Drive and Rollins Drive, police said.
The man told the responding officer he had dropped his cell phone, and while he looked for it, removed his shirt so he wouldn't tear it, police said.
In both instances Crusius was not cited and allowed to continue on his way, police said.
El Paso County prosecutors have said they would seek the death penalty for Crusius.
