2 Families Displaced After Dallas Apartment Fire

Firefighters said they're investigating the cause of a fire at a three-story apartment building early Wednesday morning.

Dallas Fire Department officials said the fire started on the second floor of the Holly Bend Apartments in the 7100 block of Holly Hill Drive at about 4:30 a.m.

The outside air fueled the flames as the fire quickly spread across the ceiling, up to the third floor and into the roof, but officials said firefighters were able to put the fire out before it could spread any further.

Investigators said the fire started after an electrical short of the wiring in the exterior wall.

Two women, who lived in the apartment where the fire originated, were taken to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation and unspecified burns, according to officials.

Two families were displaced by the fire.
