12-Year-Old Drowns on Fishing Trip

A North Texas middle school student drowned on Saturday while on a fishing trip with his friends.

12-year-old Bryor Brown was playing in the water at Lake Texoma when he the water got too deep and he could not swim.

Bryor's mom described her son as confident and outgoing. She said his favorite thing to do was fish.

"We would go to the lake often, and he would fish instead of swim, because that's what he loved to do. He would sit on the boat dock," Bryor's mom Dawn Brown said. "It makes it easier knowing that when God came and took him, he was doing something that he really loved."

A graveside funeral service will be held for Bryor at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) Cemetery in Denton at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. A fund for Bryor Brown has been set up at the American Bank of Texas in Gainesville.
