1 Killed, 1 Arrested After Shooting in Dallas: Police

The bomb squad was called to the scene of a fatal Dallas shooting that left one person dead and another in police custody Wednesday morning, police said.

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers were called after gunfire was heard and a person was spotted on the ground in the 9800 block of Brockbank Drive.

Police confirmed one person was dead, later identified as Nathan Michael Tonolin.

"It broke my heart when I saw him laying down there. I cried. What a good man, really good man. He doesn't deserve that," said neighbor Jay Abbas.

Police said during the investigation, they were directed to the home of Thomas Wilson, who also lives in the apartment complex. They took him into custody without incident.

Police got a search warrant to go through his apartment, where officers said they found guns, ammunition and a suspicious device. Police evacuated the neighbors and the bomb squad came and detonated it.

"It is a very serious situation. Once you find a device suspicious in nature, you gotta take safety precautions, you got to get people evacuated," said Lt. Thomas Castro, with the Dallas Police Department.

The device was deemed safe.

Police did not give a motive for the shooting.
