Perennial state soccer champ Ursuline Academy of Dallas is one step closer to finally winning the fight for home field advantage.
The Catholic college preparatory high school for girls on Walnut Hill Lane in Preston Hollow has 22 straight state titles but does not have its own soccer field.
Neighbors who don't want large, bright light poles in the area have been fighting the field.
Ursuline Academy is proposing that the poles go no higher than 45 feet, with special lights that shine only on the playing surface.
The city planning commission has approved the proposal, which now moves to the City Council for consideration.
Signs about the potential rezoning have been posted at the school's location.
