Sean Penn Embraces Sheen's Involvement in Haiti

Embattled celebrity Charlie Sheen has another friend in his corner.

Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn said yesterday that he thinks Sheen could be of help to Haiti, which is still recovering from last year’s destructive earthquake, The Associated Press reported.

In a statement, Penn said: "I think his energies, intelligence and passion could be both of service and servicing to him, as it is to all who are touched by the struggle of the Haitian people.”

"Charlie is one of the very few public people who cannot be accused of using the media to his own benefit. I would very much like to show my old friend the world of needs on the ground in Haiti, and introduce him and his tremendous wit to our hard working Haitian staff."

The statement from Penn--who has been very active in the relief efforts for post-earthquake Haiti, through his organization J/P HRO--came after Sheen told Access Hollywood Live that he was planning to travel to that nation next week.

“We’re going to do a couple things first and then it looks like we’re heading down [to Haiti],” Sheen said in the Access Hollywood interview. “And I’m excited as hell because, you know, if I can bring the attention of the world down there, then clearly this tsunami keeps cresting.”

Sheen had said that other celebs, such as Russell Brand and Mel Gibson, have recently expressed their support for him, according to E! News.

The coverage of Sheen doesn’t end there. Yesterday, SiriusXM announced in a press release that it was launching "Tiger Blood Radio," which “will explore the breaking news, facts, fallout and career implications of the Charlie Sheen controversy." The limited-run channel will air on today  at 6 a.m. EST to Sunday at 6 a.m. EST.
