Dancer Karina Smirnoff (L) and her fiance, Major League Baseball pitcher Brad Penny have their wedding plans on the back burner.
Karina Smirnoff could be poised for her first mirrorball win as a ballroom professional on "Dancing with the Stars," thanks to her partner, J.R. Martinez, but focusing on the prize has meant putting a stop to her wedding plans.
Karina and her fiance, Detroit Tigers pitcher Brad Penny, have paused their movement toward the altar during this very busy time in their lives.
"You know, it's true," Karina told Access of halting her march to wedded bliss. "My whole attention right now, everything we're doing is for 'Dancing With The Stars' and for J.R."
Brad's baseball season came to an end on Saturday, when the Tigers lost to the Texas Rangers, so up until recently, he was busy working full time too.
"Brad just finished his season with baseball, so there is no time," Karina added.
Dancing week to week with Army veteran and former "All My Children" actor J.R., with whom she shares the leaderboard top spot, has been something Karina's putting her whole heart into.
"I'm on such a high this season, that I wouldn't want to take anything away from the wedding, or from this experience," she said. "There's time for both."
