After a deflating 10-1 loss to the Blue Jays in the ALDS opener in Arlington Thursday, the Rangers will look to even the series in Game 2 Friday.
Yu Darvish is set to take the hill for the Rangers Friday in what will be his second postseason game in his five seasons with Texas. The right-hander from Japan started in a 2012 AL wild-card game loss to Baltimore, and missed last season after Tommy John surgery.
The Blue Jays will counter with 20-game winner J.A. Happ, who allowed one run in seven innings in a win against the Rangers May 5.
The Rangers will counter Toronto's left-handed starter by replacing outfielder Shin-Soo Choo and first baseman Mitch Moreland with Nomar Mazara and Ryan Rua, respectively. The full listed lineup is:
- Carlos Gomez, LF
- Ian Desmond, CF
- Carlos Beltran, DF
- Adrian Beltre, 3B
- Rougned Odor, 2B
- Jonathan Lucroy, C
- Ryan Rua, 1B
- Elvis Andrus, SS
- Nomar Mazara, RF
Game 2 in the best-of-five series starts at 12:08 p.m. Friday in Arlington.
Thursday's loss dropped the AL West champion Rangers to 1-10 in ALDS home games.
