A.J. Pierzynski with starting pitcher Yu Darvish.
A.J. Pierzynski and Yu Darvish didn't always see eye to eye as battery mates for the Texas Rangers. They had a few publicized disagreements during mound conferences, but nothing really out of the ordinary for two fiery competitors in the heat of the moment.
Last week while speaking to MLB Network Radio, Pierzynski, who is never one to shy away from the media world and voicing his opinions, had some flattering words for his former teammate.
Pierzynski, who signed last week with the Boston Red Sox, said Darvish has the best stuff he's ever caught, and for that matter, "ever seen."
That says a lot coming from a guy that's been in the big leagues since the Clinton Administration.
Darvish, as we all know, has freakish stuff and a freakish variety in his arsenal, with as many as eight pitches at his disposal, although he usually sticks to two or three per game, depending on what he feels is working that given day.
Darvish finished second in the 2013 AL Cy Young Award voting, leading the world with 277 strikeouts and a 2.83 ERA.
