Welcome to Watch List, where we identify five things on TV to watch while you stay at home and reschedule your dermatologist appointment. Ever make an appointment with a dermatologist? They need six months lead time to see you. Does the whole world have melanoma? LET’S GO!

MODERN FAMILY – 9:00PM (ABC) I thought last week’s episode was something of a masterpiece, and the stretch that contained the PB&J joke and the “Sondheimized” joke was downright historic. Isn’t it kind of awesome that this is one of the most popular comedies on television? We’re always complaining about what should be popular and what shouldn’t be, and lo and behold here is a show that has the audience it so richly deserves. Shouldn’t that make everyone feel good about themselves? Way to go, us! WE FINALLY HAVE SOME TASTE! ANTICIPATION: HIGH!

SAVING PELICAN 895 – 9:00PM (HBO) Surely you remember the heartbreaking images of oil-drenched birds from last year’s BP oil spill in the Gulf region. Well, tonight this HBO documentary looks at one such bird, a brown pelican, and local efforts to clean the bird and prepare the bird for re-entry into the wild. He’s the Private Ryan of pelicans, if you will. And chances are, this could be one of the most poignant TV shows you see all year. Once the media cycle moves off a tragedy and the months go by, the real stories begin to bubble to the surface. ANTICIPATION: SAD!

JESUS: THE LOST 40 DAYS – 9:00PM (History Channel) This History Channel special takes a look at the time elapsed between the resurrection of Christ and his ascension to the heavens, a span of 40 days that gets a shockingly small amount of coverage in the Bible. You’d think that would take up a pretty large chunk of the text. It’s not every day that the son of God returns from the dead and hangs around for 40 days. Did He play billiards? Did He go on vacation? He must have done something cool. ANTICIPATION: LOST WEEKEND!

AMERICAN IDOL – 8:00PM (FOX) The remaining contestants have to sing songs from the 21st century. OMG! They’re singing songs from THE FUTURE! What’s that? That’s THIS century? Oh right. I always get that confused. Anyway, watch as the kids sing songs they were actually meant to sing. ANTICIPATION: GAGA!

THIS IS SPINAL TAP – 8:30PM (G4) This one goes to 11. Actually, I think it goes to 10:30. My mistake. ANTICIPATION: MINIATURE BREAD!
